I am not used to writing much about movies on this blog. It might seem pretty off topic but I thought I should pen down my thoughts even as I was seeing it.
It is 'Adhurs' I am talking about. I attended one of the viewings this evening. It was a pretty ordinary fare considering the hype that surrounded it before its release. It seemed more of a Ravi Teja script than of NTR's. But we can excuse him because we need to understand that actors should not be stereotyped themselves although we got used to be dosed out such stuff.
OK. What made me write this? It was actually the songs and dances in films that I was thinking about. Increasingly I find songs to being a drag on the story telling and we really do not need such (often irritating) breaks in films. Particularly the dances. I do not know how long dances are going to continue in songs and films. But I hope they stop as soon as possible, however far-fetched you think my desire is. Dances do not convey anything to me in a film. They seem stupid, out of place and make the actors look like buffoons. They make actors look like they are trying hard to prove a point. But to who? ( I wouldn't mind if the dances complement the story and the film like a 'Sagarasangamam' or even a film like 'Style'.)
I would love to see more and more films being made with lesser doses of running around trees. Maturity is what is needed in films than masala.
