Do not lift cases against arsoners

I was going through Chidambaram's initial statement on the statehood of Telangana wherein he says all the cases registered against the students and activists during the time of KCR's fast unto death be lifted by the state government.

I find it totally unacceptable and utterly condemnable. This is like giving people a license to go around the place and destroy whatever they find in the name of agitations for one cause or the other. Such acts should be  punished, whoever they are -people from any part of Andhra pradesh- and whatever the causes behind their activities.

Instead of discouraging people from damaging public property this would further give them impunity. In fact the laws should be made more stringent and punishment more severe for rioting.
