Maharashtra elections and opposition failure

I was one sincerely hoping for it to be different. The other day I found myself almost praying. Which should explain that I wasn't surprised at the result.

The verdict of the people spoke out. The Congress alliance is to form government for the third time in a row in Maharashtra despite their non performance in the earlier terms.

It is also true that the people of Maharashtra have not given a clear mandate of majority to the Congress alliance.  Neither have the voters in Haryana given a full verdict to the Congress there. But still I do not even consider it a slap on the wrist to the Congress.

I view it as a 'SPIT' in the face of the opposition in the two states for not being able to effectively project themselves as better representatives of the people in the two respective states.

And also there is no excuse for their shortcomings because we all saw this coming. They saw this coming. But never expressed a desire to prevent it from happening. Because for them losing has become a habit and elections, a casual affair. They have not let their supporters down but the people of the state of Maharashtra who are craving for better standards of life.
