Why Jagan shouldn't be CM ?

The Congress party today is in a quandary on making a decision to find the right replacement to the late YSR.

The absence of a formidable second rung leadership in the party has given rise to the demand for making Jagan CM of Andhra by staunch YSR supporters from the party. As of today his name is the only one being heard of as a contender for the post.

And once again, after many years, Delhi is in a position to thrust a leader onto the people of the state.

In a normal situation I would have advocated for freedom of the state's legislature party to choose a leader by a majority vote from among its ranks. As it seems today such a meeting would bring Jagan's name to the fore owing to the support he enjoys among his father's loyalists.

I know the Congress is too far from being democratic enough to let such a meet take place to decide on the fate of the state, but in this one case I don't want it to be, either. (They usually send a name in a sealed cover, don't they?)

Should Jagan become the chief minister, (I know its a far cry but I have my own fears), it would effectively negate any remote chances for a decent second rung leadership to form in the party, once again.

Isn't centralization of power in the party, although it has reaped electoral dividends, the reason why they cannot look beyond the chief minister's family to find a replacement to YSR?

This for me is reason enough to wish he doesn't become the next leader of the party, let alone the state.

Be it Jagan or not whoever be the CM, unless and until they understand that 'Karna' Chandrababu is in waiting and any misdeed they do will distruct them forever. I don't think either Jagan, his loyalists or his opponents seem to understand this.

Very rightly said. YSR's absence is a huge plus for Chandrababu and I wouldn't be surprised to see Chiru gaining a bit either next time around.
