Judiciary should be left alone..

While the decision on Justice Dinakaran's elevation to the Supreme court is deferred by the Supreme court collegium hearing on the issue, outrageous motives are being attributed to people who questioned the integrity of the justice.

We are used to witnessing casteism and communalism being played up by politicians and activists in opposition or defence of individuals. But it is appalling to see the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) step in and cite casteism as the motive behind the criticism of Justice Dinakaran and also Chief Justice Balakrishnan.

If Justice Dinakaran's caste had not come in the way of his becoming the Chief Justice of a High court of the country then I see no reason why it should come in the way of his elevation to the Supreme Court. To allege so when the CJI is a dalit himself is plainly stupid.

We as a country are plagued by the menace of casteism. It is a harsh truth. But organisations like NCSC should not help spread it but quell it. And without a second thought the Judiciary of the country should be left alone.

We should all wait for things to emerge out clearly, since the matter is currently being looked into by the Supreme court collegium, before coming to any conclusions.
