9 new NITs to be established

There is some more good news to the higher education sector in remote areas of the country: after new IIMs and IITs that are going to be established from this year, government announces NINE new NITs.

They are to be located in Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Goa, Pondicherry, Sikkim, Delhi, Uttarakhand at a cost of around Rs. 250 each. Uhh!!

Admissions to these institutes would start from the next academic year.

It is great news indeed. There is one thing though, that I have always wondered about. Why do they start so many colleges in just about a year. I know that we are a big country and sufficiently capable of creating the necessary physical infrastructure in short time.

But what about the 'Human resources' angle: the academic infrastructure issue. Wouldn't it be a bit difficult to hunt for and get talented and experienced lecturers, professors etc., particularly people efficient enough to teach in institutes of such high standards, in such high numbers in so short a time? Or is it ok?

Do you know? Enlighten me on this!
