Hectic lobbying is still going on in New Delhi to have Jagan anointed the Chief minister of the state.
While the delay in the decision explains the Congress high command's aversion to such a conclusion one wonders what kind of a role would Jagan possibly be offered in the party or state in turn for falling into their line.
Such is the secrecy of the other side of the coin that one could only sit and make wild guesses.
Would Jagan be offered a central ministry post? That would be even worse than giving him Chief ministership. We, the people of Andhra, have at least had a glimpse of him up to now but he is a total outsider to the Parliament (discounting his 100 days as MP) and rest of the country. Not that there haven't been similar precedents before, but that rubbing him on the entire country after suggesting that he is not ready/fit to run the state would be preposterous idea.
(Although he would/could do a better job than the likes of Anbumani Ramadoss.)
Will he be given charge of APCC? Out of question. He is going to earn more bitter rivals than he now has.
Whatever they make him, they have to be sure he is happy with it. Because in his hands lay a powerful weapon called 'fame'. Something that would take decades of hard work to build and is always elusive. Undoubtedly he is the biggest crowd puller for Congress in the state as of today. We had seen glimpses of that during the election campaign. And the Congress needs a person like that for its future campaigns in the state for, there is no other credible crowd puller in the party. Whether he is an efficient orator or not is to be left for another debate.
What other role would he fit in to? A profile so highly raised by his father's devoted loyalists and so desperately needed for the party in the absence of its biggest leader in the state could not be cut to size to fit into smaller shoes, easily.
This is now very interesting. I am tracking the developments with a keener interest than any other political tamashas we had witnessed before. Lets wait and see how 'Rahul-youth-baba' would wield his veto power.
